Tourism Ideas - Syahbandar Menara Jakarta was built around 1839 and previously called Uitkijk or Uitkijk Post, once the watchtower for vessels entering and leaving Batavia and as a tax collector's office for goods unloaded at the port of Sunda Kelapa. Its function as a control tower terminated after 1886, when the port of Tanjung Priok was opened.

The tower  actually occupies the former bastion (camp) Culemborg. The bastion was made of rock in 1645, the fortifications, part of the wall around the city of Batavia to care for the mouth of the Ciliwung River, Warehouse pepper, and Shipyard.

The building of Syahbandar Tower has a dimension of 4 x 8 meters high and 12 meters. Jakarta Syahbandar tower has three rooms, namely on the ground floor, in the central part measuring 6 × 7 meters, and the top which serves as a viewing room with four windows. On the lower ground floor, there is a room that used to serve as a place to imprison the crew who violate port regulations.
Syahbandar Tower in Jakarta there is a stone slab inscribed with Chinese characters meaning the reference point, as a zero point of Batavia City. In the front yard of Menara Syahbandar, there is an inscription landmark, signed in 1977 by Jakarta Governor Ali Sadikin that time, as a bench mark of Kilometer 0 fo Jakarta at that time. But the point of Kilometer 0 Jakarta later transferred to the National Monument in about the 1980s.

Syahbandar Tower is at Jl. Pasar Ikan No.1, Sunda Kelapa, Jakarta. Open hour : 9.00 -15.00 Sunday and Tuesday – Thursday : 9.00 – 14.30 Friday – Saturday; Monday is closed.

Tourism IdeasMendut Temple is a Buddhism Temple and located in Mendut Village, District Mungkid, Magelang regency, Central Java, about 38 km to the northwest of Yogyakarta. The location is only about 3 km from the temple of Borobudhur, which presumably have close links with Pawon and Mendut. Viewed from their positions,  Pawon Temple, Borobudur Temple and Mendut Temple lies on a straight line.

According to Kayumwungu Inscription and Karang Tengah Inscription, Mendut Temple was built by Pramodyawardhani. In addition to the worship of the gods, Mendut temple was built to honor the ancestral dynastyof Syailendra. As a Buddhism Temple, Mendut Temple has reliefs which bore the stories of moral values as reflected by animal stories brought by Pancatantra from India.

In the quite spaciuos rooms, there are three Mendut Buddha statues. Right before the doors there are Buddha Sakyamuni, the Buddha was preaching. Buddha is depicted in a sitting position with hands dharmacakramudra attitude, the attitude is mewejangkan teachings.

On the right side, facing south, there is a statue of Bodhisattva Avalokiteswara, the Buddha as a human savior. Buddha is depicted in a sitting position with your left leg bent and the right leg hanging down. Right foot hitching a ride on a small lily pads.

On the left side of the room, facing north, there is a statue of Bodhisattva Maitreya ie liberator of man sitting with hands simhakarnamudra attitude, similar attitudes vitarkamudra but his fingers closed. All three statues in this room is wearing, fitted with, 'prabha "or divine light around his head.

Tourism Ideas - Ancol is a familiar name to the inhabitants of Jakarta. It is associated to an well known recreation spot, Taman Impian Ancol or the Dream Park of Ancol, in the North Jakarta. The coastal tourist area has a variety of entertainment facilities which has also been known for a long time may even before the Dutch colonial period.As a tourist area, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol was already standing since the 17 th century. At that time, the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies, Adriaan Valckenier, had a very beautiful house by the beach. Over time, the area was later developed into a tourist spot.

In this beach location on  the tip of the mouth of Ancol Vaart (now Ancol river), the Dutch colonial government had built a fort to protect Batavia enemy attack from the sea. In addition to the remains of the fort, Ancol beach also has an historic old building another temple called An Xu Da Bo Gong Miao (now Temple Toapekong Ancol/Vihara Ancol; It is in the area of Taman Impian Jaya Ancol).This pagoda was probably built in 1650 by followers of Zheng He's fleet currently docked in Jakarta area.
The rapid development of the city of Batavia in the 17th century to the mid 18th century made a name Ancol as a beach not far from the city of Batavia come up.The beauty of the famous Ancol beach is often used as a resting site by residents.As ever Johhanes Ranch expressed in the works of painting on Ancol, at that time easily found many villas resort standing around this beach, even the Governor General of the Dutch East Indies Andriaan Valckneir mentioned once had a resting place at this location.

Tourism Ideas - Gedung Mahkamah Agung is a building of Hoogerechtshof (Supreme Court) built as ordered by Herman Williem Daendels (1762-1818), the 36-Governor General in the Dutch Indies.The building lied to the north of Gedung Departemen Keuangan ( The Ex - Palace of Governor General) and now belongs to the Ministry of Finance.

This building is part of Palace of Governor General and the construction was completed in 1928 at the time of Du Bus. Inside this building there was a loji, a gathering place of the Theosofi De Ster in het Oosten or Eastern Star.
At the time of the VOC and the Netherlands, people who are in Batavia around Lapangan Banteng referred to this building as a hall where the secret meeting, other than that this building has also been used as a space where abuses of prisoners the Dutch government took place.In the span of December 12, 1947 - May 1, 1948, the Dutch government make this building as Hooggerechtshof (Supreme Court).Inside this building there is a detention room and the room for receiving guests.

The building lied to the north of Gedung Departemen Keuangan ( The Ex - Palace of Governor General) and now belongs to the Ministry of Finance. Currently the former Supreme Court building is known as Building Prijadi Praptosuhardjo II .In addition to the duties and functions in finance and wealth of the country, the Ministry of Finance has also shown real participation in the preservation of cultural heritage buildings in Indonesia. This is in line with the mandate of Law Number 10 Year 2010 on Heritage to maintain the existence of the Cultural Heritage and its value in a way to protect, develop, and exploit it.

Tourism Ideas - Having successful defending the province of Friesland and Groningen of the Prussian attack, on January 28, 1807 at the suggestion of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, Daendles was sent to the Dutch East Indies as the 36th Governor-General.

Daendels was assigned mainly to protect the island of Java from the attack of British troops. Java is the only Dutch-French colonies that have not fallen into British hands after the Isle de France and Mauritius on tahun1807.

Having landed on Java and Found the old city of Batavia an unhealthy place to live and then in 1808, Governor-General Herman Willem Daendles ordered to move the center of government to Weltervreden. Daendels decided on March 7, 1809 to build a new palace for governor generals at Weltevreden, now in Central Jakarta.

At the beginning of his reign in 1809, Daendels already started to build a large and magnificent palace in Lapangan Banteng and is now used as Gedung Departemen Keuangan (the Ministry of Finance). Daendels meant that this palace as his new capital center in Weltevreden. The palace was designed by Colonel JC Schultze. Building materials were taken from the old castle Kasteel Batavia beginning broken down there in 1809. However, the building was completed in years between 1826 and 1828 by the Engineers Tromp on the orders of the then Governor-General du Bus de Ghisignies.

Tourism Ideas - Ereveld Ancol is a Dutch cemetery for military and civilian residents of the Netherlands and a few pe Indonesians who have died in the Second World War, especially during an attack by the Japanese and the Dutch East Indies during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia, either in battle or from execution the Japanese.
Ereveld Ancol is one of two ereveld ("field of honor" in Dutch) is located in Jakarta with Ereveld Menteng Pulo in Menteng Dalam, Tebet, South Jakarta. More than 2000 Dutch soldiers buried there.Ereveld was officially open on 14 September 1946 and is managed by the Stichting Nederlandse Oorlogsgraven ("the Dutch Foundation for the War Cemetery").

The Roundabout at Taman Impian Jaya Ancol
It is in the village of Ancol, pademangan.It is easy to get into Ereveld as it is now become part of the dream park, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol. So, when you visit Ancol; once you enter the park through the main gate, you find a roundabout then turn to the right and go straight along the beach..On the left, there you will the gate into Ereveld Ancol as you see in the photograph above.

Tourism Ideas - National Monument or the popularly abbreviated as Tugu Monas is a memorial standing at 132 meters (433 feet) built in the memory of the resistance and the struggle of the Indonesian people's for independence from the Dutch colonization.This monument is crowned  with gold sheetf-coated flame which symbolizes the spirit of the struggle for independence.

Following the recognition of the sovereignty of Indonesia by the Dutch government in 1949, or after the central government of Indonesia returned to Jakarta from Yogyakarta in 1950, President Sukarno began thinking about building a national monument that is equivalent to the Eiffel Tower in the square in front of the Presidential Palace.

On August 17, 1954, Bung Karno also formed a national committee. A year later, the national monument design competition was announced.This development was no other than to commemorate and preserve the Indonesian struggle for independence during the revolution of 1945. It is expected to continue to generate inspiration and patriotism among current and future generations.

Of the 51 works submitted, only one works made by Frederich Silaban, fulfilled the specified criteria set by the committee. Among other things describes the character of the Indonesian nation and can last for centuries.
The second contest was held in 1960, but again none of the 136 participants eligible. Chairman of the jury then asked Silaban to show the design to Sukarno. Unfortunately, Bung Karno didn't like the design of it. Silaban then asked to design a monument according the desire of the First President of Indonesia, but the design proposed by Silaban extraordinary. So the cost was too hight and Indonesia was unable to bear by the state budget.

Sukarno then asked the architect RM Sudarsonoto  resume the draft. Sudarsono enter the numbers 17, 8, and 45 which symbolizes August 17, 1945 the date of the Proclamation of Independence, into the design of the monument.

The National Memorial which is now a National Monument or the popular abbreviated with Monas, then built in an area of 80 hectares. This monument designed by Friedrich Silaban and RM Sudarsono, the construction began August 17, 1961 at 132 meters or 433 feet.

Monas was opened to the public on July 12, 1975. Monas is located right in the center of Merdeka, or Independence Square, Central Jakarta or in front of the Palace. Now, monuments and museums are open every day starting at 08:00 to 15:00 pm. On the last Monday of every month is closed to the public.
